Helium- Lauren Blake Proffitt
I read three articles for the prompt simply titled Cat Breed: American Shorthair. I learned that this particular breed of cat used to be called the Domestic Shorthair because it was brought over on the Mayflower to reduce rodents on the boat. The author of the best rated article was very informative and to the point. She did not try to fill up space with useless, unrelated information but instead used her space wisely by giving more detail about the subject at hand. For the second lesser article the author must have thought that a longer essay meant a better essay. I have to admit that after the first few paragraphs I decided to skip a few and just get the direction of the essay. I feel that this article was made up of mostly fillers and opinions and not actual useful information. There were also a free misplaced comma's here and there but other than that I feel the mechanics were fine. As for the third essay, I feel that it did follow the prompt but it did not give near enough information. If I were to really want to understand this subject I would not look to this particular article for my information. It also had an awkward flow and ended very crudely. If I were to be writing for this prompt I would go about it in a smiler way as the rest did. I would give the history of the breed, it's description and any interesting facts. I would try to be as unopinionated about it as possible.
