helium:Family cooking on a budget: Tips and tricks : luis amurrio
the prompt that i reviewed was family cooking on a budget: tips and tricks. What i learned from this prompt was that even the best of foods can be affordable to any person that has a reasonable job and is open minded to trying new types of food and having a fun and tasty experience. I also learned that most restaurants usually are willing to drop the price a little bit if you treat them with respect and never leave a small tip! For the best essays the thing that most showed me why they were better than most others was the flow of the ideas and how he was able to descriptively touch each topic he or she puts in his or her thesis and another interesting thing i found was the grammar was flawless. For the lesser essays the things that i found were what made them so bad or hard to understand were that they were not able to describe each topic and be able to make it flow nicely as well as to the poorly corrected grammar. I would approach this topic descriptively and grammatically good cause the way the best essays were formed were flawless and were by far the most interesting essays that i have read on a topic and it was able to completely take my attention to the topic.
Kody Kuhn's Last Helium
I chose to review this prompt "The Best weather for deer hunting " I learned some new information on hunting times and the best weather times to hunt. I like to hunt in the snow to because its the best and allows you to track the animals and preservers the meat. All of the essays were good. The lower level essays just could have used better grammar and more details. I would write on my experiences that I have had in the woods and give people advice. Also I would tell you how to improve you hunting skills.
HELIUM~The Danger of Chocolate to Dogs-Justin Katz
I chose to review the prompt "The Dangers of Chocolate to Dogs". I learned how severe the effects of chocolate on a dog can be. I was unaware that chocolate was that toxic to them. The author organized the paper well and didn't go off topic at all. The other essays didn't seem like the authors' opinions had supporting facts. If I wrote a response to this topic, I would have supporting facts cited throughout my paper to show that these are well known facts.
Candace Flowers Helium Betta Fish Facts
The prompt that I reviewed was about Betta fish and how to care for them. By reading this I learned that Betta fish are Siamese fighting fish. If you put two of them in the same bowl, they will fight. You can put two or more fish in a tank if you have dividers in between them. For the best essay, the author used very good details and examples. He talked about how he personally took care of the Betta fish he had and the techniques that he used. In the other essays, some of the mistakes that I saw was the information was not organized well like in the better essays. The essays had good detail but they do not flow together. If I had to write an essay on this topic I would talk about Betta fish history and how to care for them. I would also talk about where you could purchase them if someone was interested in buying them.
Helium- Lauren Blake Proffitt- Caring for African Cichlids
While on Helium today, I read three essays about caring for African Cichlids. The top ranked essay was not the best essay I have ever read but it definitely deserved it place in this competition. I really learned a lot more than I already knew about the subject. What intrigued me most was the particular placement of the rocks. The first essay did have a few typo's but overall it stuck to the topic at hand and was very useful with the information given. The author used some personal experience but only as an example of what they were trying to explain. The second essay I read was the middle ranked essay. It seemed to me to be what the author specifically did to take care of their cichlids. It wasn't very clear if the authors pet cichlids were African or from another section of the family. Therefore, I am not quite sure that I could say this essay redeemed itself by staying on topic. Mostly, I find it distasteful that the writer would drop brand names left and right. I understand that she obviously finds these products to work the best but it was slightly off topic. The lowest ranked essay was very unorganized. It didn't even start on topic so it most certainly did not stay there. It also was very unhelpful on the care of any type of cichlid let alone on the care of an African cichlid. If I were to write an essay on this topic, I would first explain what is the best tank environment for the cichlid and then proceed to explain the maintenance for the tank and the fish. I would include diet and any special needs such as lighting.

should the US continue to participate in the War in Iraq?

Yes - 30 of 39 by Shawn Schleicher. This person started off as though they had picked the wrong side in that they were downing the war. Turns out they are indeed against the war in Iraq, but feel it is a more complicated question than it seems. one of the true issues is how exactly should we go about removing our troops from Iraq. Should we take them all out at once? Should we one by one slower stop sending troops and continue to take some out? It is a hard subject, this person has also covered the fact that what will those countries over there think if we take such measures? personally I am tired of hearing about this war with no results, and all the money being spent every mount is astronomically ridiculous.
No - 30 of 52 by Joseph Brewer. This guys seems to know what he is talking about, he mentions how the government has lied to us multiple times about the reason for going to war in Iraq starting with 9/11 adding the it was conducted by Osama and Saddam who participate in two different types of Islamic religion. I myself being in fifth grade at the time herd about the official clam of war on Iraq at the Nascar race and was excited that we were going to fight for our country and show the wrongdoings of others would not stand. As the years have gone on though I have supported our troops and wished for their safe return but in no way support the war. I feel the country did lie to us and is still lying to us. I have personally watched a video on YouTube called Lose Change, It is a documentary on 9/11 and what happened and the people involved, It really made me sit and think why the government would hide some of the things that are stated they have neglected to release. Most importantly why would they inflict such pain on their own country just to gain a little bit of money to later lose in a ridiculous war.
If you have not had time to research this video and see how much of it is possably true I don't want to believe it, yet i feel it to be compelling evidence easy fixed by the release of a few videos and information by the government. If you have not seen it i suggest you find 90 minutes to do so.

Today the prompt I read today was about how to deal with an ob-noxious coworker. I learnt many different things after reading these prompts, I learnt that there are many different ways you can go about avoiding the co-worker depending on how bad the situation is. The best way I perceived to solve the problem would be to approach the person face to face, state that you know there are some tensions between and acknowledge your part in the problem. The writer in the best essays used simple solutions to resolve the problems. Supporting those ideas with examples. The writer in the leaser essays didn’t give solutions to solve the problem.

The prompt I read on Helium today was about trying to pick out the best gaurd dog for a family. The first article i read was very good it even gave questions for you to think about if you were to get a "gaurd" dog. I learned from this article that not all types of dogs are good to have because of the way they can grow up to be. From reading the least one I understand, why it was the least because they even spelled the name of there dog wrong. They came off with a story that didn't make since and through out the story all the did was talk about that one type of dog.

The prompt I read today for my helium was how to tell if a girl likes you. I learned a lot about this actually. This subject has a lot to do with non verbal signals. You can tell a lot about if someone likes you by what they do how they look at you and make contact with you. You can learn a lot about what someone thinks of you by just the way they look at you. For the best essays the author used key points of mature attraction to show how people are attracted to other people. For the lesser essays the author used a middle school sense of this. They told about how they get their friends to talk to you and giggle and write notes. This attraction never last because it is very immature. If I was to write about this prompt I would use my best examples of experience and would also agree with the best essay that it has a lot to do with non verbal signs and how things progress as opposed to giggling in high school
