Best of the Blogs – September 23, 2009
I have really enjoyed every aspect of blogging so far this semester. It is a homework assignment that I do not mind doing, it does not even feel like homework anymore. I can tell that it is helping improving my writing skills and I no longer get stressed about writing a paper.
I have really enjoyed completing the Stumble Upon blogs. They really give you a chance to discover websites that you other wise might have never come across other wise. In reading my classmate’s blogs, I really enjoyed exploring the topics that everyone is interested in. I particularly enjoyed reading on topics that I would not normal research. For example, what diet is better for a dog? Now I know if I ever get a dog to feed them Purina dog food. I believe that stumble is a wonderful pre-writing tool. You can narrow the search settings down to the topics you are interested in writing about and who knows what may come up and help jump start your mind. It seems as the semester continues to go on, my classmate’s blogs are becoming longer and a bit more in-depth. I feel like everyone enjoys stumbling as much as I do.
In Helium blogs, the most important part of a good essay seems to be the essays structure and flow. This helps students by being able to compare a strong essay and a weaker essay side by side. Also, when reading the essays, I can compare my work to the websites essays and create a stronger essay overall. Helium makes it very easy to distinguish the differences between the higher rated essays and the lower rated essays and apply the techniques to my personal papers.
I believe that blogging is a great way to involve casual writing into everyday life. This is a perfect example that shows how writing can be fun and not just typical research papers.
I enjoy finding the topics and creating the blog post every week. I hope to create a blog of my own once the semester is completed.
