I read several blogs and found a few that interested me. I particularly liked a blog about a leopard being afraid of a mouse that was feeding on its meat. It was a cute stumble and a decently written blog. I am going to be truthful and say that I really did not come up with any ideas for my future papers. I generally like to let those flow when the papers are assigned to me. I do, however, find Stumble Upon to be a very useful prewriting tool. If I were ever to get writers block, all I would have to do is stumble around until I found a topic. Then, not only would I know what I’m writing about but I would also have some information about my topic to help me write on it. The most important elements of writing according to my class mates seem to be for the author to somewhat know what they are writing about. If the writer does not have any background in the subject at hand then they should not have written an essay about it. Also listed under things of importance were all of the technical errors. Grammar seemed to be a big pet peeve of everyone and spelling was right up there with it. I don’t really see blogging as an effective writing tool as of right now but I do see its potential. It could potentially be used at a tool for other classmates to point out ones weaknesses and help me understand how to do whatever I am doing wrong better. It can also be used as a prewriting tool because if you find something interesting enough to blog about it then you may be able to extend that into an essay in the future.
