Melvin- Journal Article Review- Dance Injuries

The article that I found was called “Musculoskeletal injuries in theatrical dancers: site, frequency, and severity”. I found it with a search of Google with the scholarly search turned on. The topic of the article is that dancers are extreme athletes and the tremendous amount of stress that they put on their. The stress that is put on their bodies can cause serious injuries; this article discusses some of the more common ones. I completely agree with every part of this article. It really is amazing how much stress dancers really do put on their body and the injuries described are exactly what many dancers I personally know suffer from. The author cited The Physician and Sports Medicine Journal repeatedly. I feel that the article is very well structured and even includes a hook in the beginning. I felt that this article was easier to follow and understand that some other scholarly articles I have encountered. If I where to use this article for a paper I would use the information about how much stress is put on a dancers body and how they are athletes just like a football player. I would also take the information about the types of injuries dancers deal with, but I would refer back to the medical journal they originally came from.
