Lauren Blake Proffitt- Helium- Standing Ovations

The prompt I decised to read was about the overuse of Standing Ovations. Being a part of the theater world for most of my life I have thought that standing ovations are very much so overused. I learned that I am quite obviously not the only one that feels this way and that even now there are some people out there that differ in opinion. The best rated Essay was wonderful. It was intriguing and It was extremely convincing of that persons opinion. It had all of the corrects technical parts as well. I read essay number thirteen and it was deserving of it's place. I found misuse of words and spelling mistakes. It also did not interest me as much(though I may be spoiled from the first essay). There was a part where the author clearly meant 'their' but used 'there'. Over all it followed the prompt which is more than I can say for the worst rated essay. This essay was written fine and could have been rated very well except that There was no relation to the prompt. The very last paragraph tied in standing ovations but the bulk of the essay was on the disappearing arts in schools and Americas under exposure to true art. If I were to write on this prompt, I would bring in my past experiences where I have been a part of both the audience and the performance. I would explain how standing ovations should be reserved only for truly exemplary works on that stage.
