The helium prompt that I read today was about the best sporting events in 2008. Picking a single event to be the best sporting event is an arduous task, however because it was 2008 the Beijing Olympics took the podium. What made this event so great were the athlete’s accomplishments including Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps. Usain Bolt became the fastest man on earth shattering the 100 meter record in 9.58s. Also he broke the 200 meter and the 4x100 meter relay. Michael Phelps did it big in 2004 with 6 gold metals but in 2008 wanted to be the greatest in the world and did so with 8 gold metals. Last the United States took the win for the most medals 110; however china defeated the US with 51 to 36golds. The best essay used the examples of the accomplishments above to display how the Olympics was the greatest sporting event in 2008. In some of the lesser essays authors tried to say that just one individual sport was the best. I do not think that one sport could have been the best, when in the event of having every sport in the Olympics.
